Home-learning – Charlie Mackesy posters

Thank you so much to those of you who have sent in your Charlie Mackesy inspired artwork, I have really enjoyed looking at them and reading the conversations between the characters.

Some of you have said how much you have enjoyed this unit of work, drawing favourite animals, perhaps even pets, and I know that a few of you now feel so much more confident about your drawing skills.   I’m so pleased to hear this, and hope that you also now appreciate that the creative journey which you record in your sketch books is just as important as any finished piece of work.

Home-Learning

Thank you once again to those of you who have already sent in your AF Harrold inspired Say something nice poem.  If you haven’t already done so, please make sure that you send your illustrated piece to homelearning@pelham.merton.sch.uk by this coming Wednesday at the latest, so that it can be included in the Year 6 PowerPoint.

Please also remember that sending in your learning is specifically prescribed for some subjects/projects on the Year 6 home-learning page.

House point winners

And, this week, the Unicorns have it!  Well done Unicorns, you’re doing a great job. Come on Dragons, you need to rally the troops – you can do it!

The house points chart for Owls currently looks like this:

Unicorns:           28 (total = 50)

Dragons:            13 (total = 15)

Griffins:              11 (total = 29)

Phoenixes:          8 (total = 36)

Thank you, once again, to those of you who are engaging with the blog and sending in your home-learning, this is reflected in the house point chart. Please remember that sending in your learning is specifically required for some subjects/projects on the Year 6 home-learning page. Keep up the good work team!

Online safety

Casey loves playing video games on his computer, especially those that allow you to link up with your friends and compete against them through the Internet. Casey has always been gaming partners with his friend Boris. Together, they are almost unbeatable whenever they compete as a team against other teams online. But one day, Casey tells Boris he has found a better gaming partner and he doesn’t want to play as Boris’ partner anymore. Boris is outraged that he has been “dumped” as a gaming partner for someone else and he begins to tell other people on the gaming network that Casey “sucks” at all video games and that no one should ever be his partner unless they want to lose really badly. Soon after these statements are posted online, Casey’s new gaming partner dumps him and no one on the network wants to be his partner. Casey feels completely hopeless and alone.

What are your thoughts?

  • What should Casey do about his situation?
  • Whom should he tell and what should they do?
  • Can this example really be called a case of cyberbullying?
