P4C

Our next P4C session will be based around an animated short called Veni Vidi Vici:  click on the title to watch it.  When I watched, I realised that there are lots of possible themes that you might want to discuss.  Please put your questions into the comment box below, so that you can all exercise your Pupil Voice by voting on the one you would like to use in our next P4C lesson.

Remember, the best questions are open-ended, because they present the opportunity to have much deeper, more wide ranging conversations than closed questions.

  1. Pippa says:

    I have a question:
How old was the small soldier?

    • swatson says:

Gosh Pippa, you’re quick off the mark! Can you think of a wider question that we could discuss? I’m thinking about the sort of question that is inspired by the video, but ends up with everyone thinking about the ‘big ideas’ that stem from the original question.

    • Pippa says:

Is the small soldier an adult or a child?
How did he end up there if he is small and clumsy?
What made the small soldier want to be part of the training course?
What made the person in charge change his mind very quickly about the small soldier?

  2. Isla says:

Is there a problem with the soldier being small?
Did the other soldiers dislike him because he was small?
Why did he not try himself?
Does he deserve to be praised?
    Did he have to cheat?

  3. Isla says:

I loved the video by the way

  4. Isla says:

I have got one more question:
    Is he good or bad?

  5. kirishaa says:

Why is he allowed in the camp when he is a child??

  6. Tom says:

Why is he so keen to join the Roman army?

  7. lazar says:

I think that this is a very nice mini movie because the weak soldier was stuck at the beginning and then he managed to use his brain ad win.

    • swatson says:

How did he use his brain? Think about the answer to this question and use it to try to come up with an open question that we could discuss in our P4C session.

  8. lara says:

I have a some questions about the video:
did the small soldier earn his position at the end as he never did anything ?
What did the other soldiers think of the smaller one?

  9. Ezra says:

How come he is allowed in the Roman army?

  10. Rishav says:

It was really funny, the way that at the beginning the soldier was getting slightly bullied at but at the end he used his sly brain to make it through all of the drills shows that being clever is stronger than being muscular and big!

  11. Caiden says:

Why does he always fail when he does all his training to be a Roman warrior?

  12. Doni says:

    My questions:
Did the small man choose to do that training?
If he did, what was his reason?
Why did the others annoy him just because he was small?

  13. Ezra says:

what does it matter if you are small or not?

  14. lauren says:

    Why is he so determind?

  15. lauren says:

    How old is he?

  16. Caiden says:

Why does he have to get bullied allot when he is just a boy?

  17. Ananya says:

I think the lesson in this story is: don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

  18. lauren says:

Do you think he is clever?

  19. Ezra says:

Why do people have to bully people when there smaller than them?

  20. luqman says:

He is so young how would he be able to do this?
