We are thinking about the /j/ sound spellt with ‘j’ and ‘g’.
This week, why don’t you try to draw picture of the word and then write your spellings around it?
gem
giant
magic
giraffe
energy
jacket
jar
jog
join
I’ve already become muddled with the spellings!
Swallows
Test on 7.10.19 will be
-dge words (already listed on blog)
Swifts
Test on 7.10.19 will be
race, ice, cell, city, fancy, face, space, bicycle, circle
Again, many apologies for the mix-up! The children have been super sensible about the muddle.
Best wishes,
Ms. Ruthven
This week we are learning the /r/ sound as /wr/
There are nine spellings to learn. We would encourage children to write out their spellings in a variety of ways. Some ideas for this week could include;
Rainbow write– write each letter with a different colour.
Blue vowel- write the spelling word out but each vowel is blue.
Look, say, cover, write, check– Read the word, say the word, cover the word, write the word without looking, check how you did.
If we have concerns about your child’s spelling test, we will speak to you, or write a note in your child’s reading record. If we don’t speak to you, then they are doing fine!
Children who are not able to access the spellings will use the spelling test time for phonics games. We will speak to you in person if your child will be doing this.
