Errrggghhhh! These make me cross, Ospreys! We looked at some old toy adverts in Swallows class and all of the Science/ robotics toys were aimed at boys. The ‘gentler’ toys where you had to show care and love were aimed at girls. What messages does this give to young boys and girls?
    Girls can’t be scientists?
Boys can’t show their caring side?

This gives a very restricting and bad message to young children that they can’t do what they’re passionate about when they can.

1.The clothing is directed at a specific gender i.e his t-shirts/her logo styles
2.The men’s ad says ‘It’s the smart thing to do.’and the women’s ad says ‘It’s the pretty thing to do.’
    3. Not sure.
    4. It says one more thing for ‘men’ to rule.
    5. It’s ‘>MANMAN< STUFF’.

1- This ad implies that boys are the clever ones and girls are butterflies. It also has the boy dressed in black and the girl dressed in white and pink.
2-The people who made this ad are probably all men that have wives that do all their cleaning so they think that’s how it should be. IT’S NOT. At my house the jobs are split equally between my mum and my dad.
3-This ad is very stupid because it implies that men are all hopeless at cooking and cleaning and that only women can do it. It links back to ad 2 in that same way.
4- This ad thinks that only women are the pretty ones and only men are smart.
5- I think this ad is saying that he looks ridiculous because he is a dancer wearing a sort of dress. He can wear whatever he likes and he doesn’t look ridiculous.
6-AARRGGHH!!! One more thing for men to rule is the stupidest phrase I have ever heard. This ad shows that they think men rule over everything and that if there is a competition then men will automatically win. they won’t. The ruler of our whole country( the Queen) is a woman so they’re already wrong.
7- There is no such thing as man stuff or man anything because anyone can do or use whatever they like. That is actually not a wise business choice because people that see it that are women will be encouraged not to buy it.

So easy a husband could do it? I find this stereotype very hurtfull as any man can cook as well as a any woman. Also, any person in the world can eat a Yorkie (yum), anyone can wear Nike trainers, people can wear what they want, men can clean the house too, and I have no idea what the fourth and fifth ones are about!

  5. W says:

On the 3rd one men can cook as the same level as women.
