Books Books Books

What are you guys reading this week?

I’ve decided to do some non-fiction reading and bought this beautiful cook-book. I love cook-books, especially ones with interesting graphics and nice images of delicious food. I’ll be following some of these recipes over the bank holiday weekend.

Let me know what you guys are reading this week. Fiction or non-fiction? Which books do you particularly love?

Send in a photograph of you with a book that you love to homelearning@pelham.merton.sch.uk FAO Mr Burns.

Happy reading! 🙂

Wimbledon BookFest – Young Writers Competition 2020

A big congratulations to Adam and Catherine in Ospreys who have been shortlisted by Pelham and entered to represent our school in the upper key stage two category of the Wimbledon BookFest Young Writers Competition.

I know that Ms. Ruthven had a really tough time choosing the shortlist from all the entrants, so well-done for making the cut. As we know, this year’s theme is The Secret and you can read Catherine’s short story and Adam’s poem by clicking on the links below:

Mysterious Things by Catherine

The Secret by Adam

What features of narrative writing has Catherine used in her story?

What poetic features has Adam used in his poem?

As always, your feedback on the writing is highly encouraged.
