Year 5- Session 2

Year 5 came really well-prepared for their second session of STEEAM today.

The STEEAM display, located outside the hall has been updated with some fantastic ideas we discussed as a group.

It’s great to hear that research has begun already!

Year 5- first session

Aside

A great first session with Year 5, thank you to Mr Burns for facilitating this block of STEEAM.

Some fantastic ‘STEEAM’ language during a warm-up activity of making catapults;

  • I wonder if…
  • Let’s try this next..
  • You work on that and I’ll think about the other bit..
  • I remember seeing a picture of this before…
  • I don’t think that’s strong enough, let’s try something different…
  • How can we change the trajectory?I don’t think there enough force in the spoon…

In fact, we were so engrossed in the warm-up session, we nearly ran out of time to introduce the project!

Well done Year 5, I really look forward to seeing your research ideas progress.

The Beast of Buckingham Palace by David Walliams…set 100 years in the future!

Has anyone read the new book by David Walliams?

My son received it as a present for Christmas and we’ve been enjoying reading it together. I love how it is set in the year 2120, which links really nicely with our STEEAM project this year. London is in ruins and the children of 2120 have never seen sunlight, a very scary prospect! I hope David Walliams’ future imaginings don’t come true!

It is a great book, I think I may write a Raving Review for Mrs. Lyne!
